1 - Attend a Training - In Person or Online
Unless you've been performing diagnostic testing on houses as your full time job, you'll likely need some help getting up to speed on the latest testing protocols, tools, and the BPI standards. There are some great online trainings that are available (i.e.Saturn Resource Management). If you'd prefer to be in a dynamic classroom setting and receive a hands-on training, we offer a couple of classes that will provide just that! If you receive training online or elsewhere, we can proctor the tests for you. 2 - You Must Pass the Written Test To become a BPI certified Analyst, you must pass a computer-based "written" test. The written test contains 100 questions that must be completed within a 2-hour period. An online training or our 2-4 day trainings will prepare you for this test. 3 - You Must Pass the Field Test The field-test is a hands-on test in which a field-proctor will be "shadowing" you as you inspect/diagnose an existing home while properly implementing the BPI inspection protocols. Not everyone will feel ready to perform the field testing right after 2-4 days of intense training. Recognizing this, we don't force you to perform the field-test at any certain point. Each trainee can schedule their in-field test at a time that is convenient for them. It can be the day after the training or a month later. This flexibility allows each trainee the time for further studying or additional field training, if the few days of in-field training just weren't enough.
Test-Proctoring by Home Energy Partners Home Energy Partners has BPI certified testing-proctors and field-proctors on staff. We'll be glad to schedule a written-test or field-test for you, even if you have completed training from another trainer or online. |
