Controlling the Flow of Heat

An efficient building controls the speed at which heat moves through the building's shell, or envelope. Heat moves from hot to cold, regardless of direction (up, down, or sideways). And, it is the role of insulation systems and quality windows to slow down this transfer of heat. The better the insulation and windows are, the less energy you'll consume to maintain a comfortable living environment.

Many houses do a poor job at controlling the flow of heat through the envelope. Some have NO insulation, while others have poorly installed insulation. Some houses have inefficient single pane windows that are leaky and poor insulators, while others have newer double-pane windows that unfortunately don't have low-e coatings.

We'll assess the performance of these envelope components and make suggestions to optimize comfort and efficiency.
